Gubałówka is the long grassy hill sitting directly north of the centre, and the view from its ridge is the one everyone comes to Zakopane hoping to see. The entire Tatra wall stretches across the horizon, snow capped for much of the year, with the rooftops of Zakopane spread out below like a model village. You can reach the top on foot, by funicular or, if you are feeling energetic, on a short but proper uphill walk. Once up there, the ridge itself becomes its own little world, with food stalls selling grilled cheese and pierogi, souvenir stands, a small fairground feel in summer, and a walking path heading west towards Butorowy Wierch for anyone who wants a quieter stretch of the same view. There are benches and open grass to just sit and take it in, which is honestly what most people end up doing after the initial excitement of the panorama wears off. It suits families with children, older visitors who cannot manage steep trails, and anyone who wants a big mountain payoff without much physical effort.
