Chochołowska stretches further into the mountains than any other valley in this part of the Tatras, and reaching it means starting from the car park at Siwa Polana on the western edge of the national park. The walk in is long but gentle, following a wide track through forest that eventually opens into broad meadows framed by high ridgelines. For most of the year it is a peaceful place, popular with hikers heading towards the higher passes and huts further along the route. Then, for roughly two or three weeks in early spring, usually somewhere around April depending on how the winter went, the meadows turn a deep purple as crocuses bloom in vast numbers, and the valley suddenly becomes one of the busiest places in the entire region, with people arriving specifically to photograph the flowers. Outside that window it is quieter and more contemplative, a good choice for anyone wanting real distance and solitude without needing technical mountain experience. There is a mountain hut partway along where walkers often stop to rest.
